Metastatic cancer or cancer that spreads to the liver from other parts of the body. These cancers are not labelled as liver cancer but as metastatic cancer of whatever organ they originated from (i.e. metastatic colon cancer for cancer of the colon spreading into the liver). Treatments for these types of cancers are done in the originating organ rather than in the liver itself. In extreme cases or cases where the cancer can no longer be treated, medical care and pain management procedures are done to maintain a patient's quality of life. Depending on what stage the cancer is, primary liver cancer can be treated to either remove or slow down the development of the disease. The liver performs several vital functions. It processes and stores many of the nutrients absorbed from the intestine. It also makes some of the clotting factors needed to stop bleeding from a cut or injury. Hemangioma (he-man-ge-O-muh) is the most common type of benign liver tumor. It starts in blood vessels and Hepatic adenomas are benign tumors that start from the main type of liver cells (hepatocytes). Women have a much higher chance of having one of these tumors if they take birth control pills, although this is rare. Stopping the pills can cause the tumor to shrink. Hepatic adenomascancer begins in many spots throughout the liver and is not confined to a single tumor. Liver cancer can lead to enlargement of Liver which can result in discomfort e.g. pain in the upper abdomen or pain in the right shoulder. There are some other common symptoms of Liver cancer (none of them are too conclusive though) like nausea, weakness, loss of weight etc. Other symptoms of liver cancer include jaundice and fluid disbalance in the body (e.g. building up of fluid in the abdomen). However, these too are just mildly indicative of liver cancer and are in no way conclusive symptoms. Recognizing the symptoms and seeking professional help (from qualified doctors) can help early diagnosis of liver cancer. The cancer has spread into two or more organs or has spread to distant lymph nodes or the liver or lungs. This is called metastatic or secondary cancer. There is much to be learned about the causes of gall bladder cancer. It appears that there are some indications that those with gall stones are more likely to develop this form of cancer. This being the case, liver cleansing can be of use. Liver cleansing can help remove gall stones that would otherwise be left undetected in your body. Liver cleansing can be done through herbs or using a regime of Epsom salts, cold pressed organic olive oil and lemon juice. The treatments for cancer of the liver are primitive by the measure (state) of illness, age, general health, the feelings and personal preferences. The surgery is the most effective treatment for cancer of the liver primitive, but that is not always possible because of the size or the location of the tumor. Radio-frequency ablation with an option for people with small tumors and non-hepatocellular for certain types of metastasis breast cancer in the liver. During this procedure, the hepatic artery (the artery of cancer of the liver, from their supply of blood) is safe, and the chemotherapy drugs are injected between the slope and the liver.
