Minimizing The Disadvantages Of Consumer Mailing Lists Through Opt-ins

By: Roberto Bell Home | Business | Marketing

As what you might already know, consumer mailing lists have a number of disadvantages. This cannot be avoided, as all types of marketing tools have weaknesses or shortcomings. Take the earlier marketing tactics, for example. Direct mailing is the closest one can get to the use of consumer mailing lists and email marketing. Direct mailing has a number of limitations, such as its cost and its time of result production. Yet for years many people used this strategy in order to create awareness and to attract potential clients. The same goes for the use of new marketing tools such as consumer mail lists. Despite its limitations, it still remains to be an effective means for email marketing.

However, these limitations can be minimized. A number of consumer mail lists providers have come up with ways to limit these shortcomings in order to make email marketing more effective than it already is. One of the ways to minimize these limitations is through the use of opt-ins email advertising.

To understand what an opt-in email advertising is and how it is related to an consumer email list, it is necessary to know how consumer list providers get the email addresses you get from their products.

Ideally, contacts on a consumer email lists are all solicited. This means the owner of the email address knows that they will receive an email from companies regarding a certain product or a service. This is important because it means the person has an interest with the particular service and product. Consequently, this would make the sale easier. It is assumed that the person wants to receive the email, making the marketing material message not a spam email.

Consent can be acquired through the use of opt-in email advertising. With this, the email address owner gives his or her permission to receive the message. This minimizes the particular limitation of consumer email lists where the receiver has a difficult distinguishing legitimate marketing email from spam email marketing.

Esteemed and reliable consumer email list providers always provide opt-in emails, to ensure the relevance of the contacts on the consumer lists.
