More Traffic Equals More Sales: 5 Traffic Tips You Need To Use

Times are tough, money is tight and you need some extra cash, so you build a website. Now what? So you select your niche, design your astonishing new website that is going to help you retire in a few years, kick back and wait on the checks to come rolling in.

Then...Nothing!

I have a website, what am I doing wrong?

No traffic equals no sales!

Don't get discouraged, what you are doing is a typical mistake a lot of people make when starting out. You have what I like to refer to as the Field Of Dreams" syndrome. Just because you build it, doesn't mean that you are ever going to have a single visitor or that you are guaranteed to make a sale.

This is why 96% of all new Internet business's fail. It is very frustrating to spend innumerable hours and dollars building a website, only to find out after weeks of waiting and watching that you haven't made a single sale.

With over 100,000 new websites built ever day, you can no longer just build a website and count on people finding you. You have to take initiative and go out and get your own traffic.

So what do you do?

How do you get traffic/customers to your website so they can buy something?

There are hundreds of ways to generate traffic. Some good, some bad, some are free and some will cost you the shirt off your back if done wrong. Some will work for certain sites better than others, do your research and testing to find out what works better for your unique site.

Keep this in mind, free is not always better. If you are getting free traffic that accounts for 2% of your sales but 90% of your time then you need to reevaluate.

Here are five traffic tips to get you started.

1.Forum Posting: It's been said time and time again a well written signature can get you loads of free traffic. Posting in forums is a outstanding way to boost your traffic. This make take a little time since you need to make sure that you are posting genuinely helpful comments to build up your reputation. Get a good reputation construct up and people will click on every link you have in your signature wanting to hear more of what you have to say.
2.Create Your Own Podcasts: In today's society people have less and less time to sit down and read an entire newsletter or article. They would much rather have access to something they can throw on an iPod or MP3 and take with them to listen to later. Create a Podcast of your article and submit it to the directories. Not only is it a dandy source of free traffic but also it is a whole new audience. (You just expanded)
3.Advertise Offline: Think outside the box, to many Internet marketers get so focused on the Internet they forget about the offline possibilities. Try getting some free publicity from your local newspaper or TV station. Reporters are always looking for an exciting new story. Put your url everywhere, make t-shirts, hats, bumper stickers maybe you could sponsor a local ball team. Use your imagination for this one.
4.Be A Guest Writer: You have to have a little credibility in your niche for this one to work. Once you have some though, offer to do a guest post on a popular blog. Not only will it send your credibility through the roof but will get you some seriously target traffic.
5.Write A Book: Create an ebook in your niche and give it away for free and offer it to ezine publishers in your niche. Submit it to free ebook directories to gain even more exposure. Join one of the many yearly giveaway events only this time you will be the one supplying the material. Not only will this get you more traffic but also you can capture a name and email address every time your book is downloaded. Be careful and make sure that your book is of good quality and full of good content, your name is going on it so you don't want your name associated with junk.

What will you do?

You have the website, now you have the means to get loads of targeted traffic.

But will you do it?

Focus on one technique per week, implement a new technique each week and just watch what happens. If you boost your traffic and your conversions only slightly say from a 1% to 2% your income just doubled.

When it comes to generating traffic and lots of it, let your imagination run wild and think outside the box. Don't be afraid to try something out of the ordinary.
