The Docklands on the east side of London is quickly becoming one of the world’s most highly developed areas, both in terms of commerce and residential potential. Since the decline of the shipping industry in the 1950s, a project has been set up to renovate the area, which has been in place since 1981, and the Docklands is now home to some of the most prestigious companies and places to live in the London area. One of the central draws to living in area is the excellent public transport connections, including the DLR or Docklands Light Railway which connects to London City Airport. With the London Olympic Games arriving in the city in 2012, paving the way for even newer plans to be made, the area has only increased in desirability, making it popular with many East London estate agents. There are a multitude of different local attractions to the area. Aside from many of the traditional east end pubs which continue to stand, there is also the city’s first bird sanctuary, as well as the London exhibition centre, meaning that the area is not simply a place to work, but to live and enjoy the growing cultural influence many of the local attractions are having on the area, from modern bars and eateries to older, more historically influenced places. The Docklands is home to some of the stateliest Canary Wharf apartments and Dockland apartments in the area. With the Thames nearby, many of the apartments boast some excellent waterside views and offer top of the range design features within the central business district. There has been huge progress commercially in the area, putting some of the world’s largest and most successful companies right on the doorstep of those who live there. Canary Wharf is home to three of London’s tallest buildings, the Citigroup centre, the HSBC tower and The Canada Square, and many workers have been drawn to Canary Wharf apartments, due to the success of the area as well as the ease of travel to and from work, a point which has also been made by East London estate agents. There has been a huge boost in terms of environmental development in the area as well, with huge open spaces of green area close by to the hubbub of commerce. Many trees have been planted nearby, as well as a water based Ecology Park, fully integrating a more modern, greener approach to living in residencies in the area such as Canary Wharf apartments. In fact, many of the newer Dockland apartments incorporate this new, greener philosophy by building eco-friendly features into the buildings. Dockland apartments are very much in demand by East London estate agents for their prestigious location, commercial potential and attractive benefits, many of which include good transport connections to the city, a high level of comfort, excellent work and investment opportunities and the chance to be at the centre of a growing commercial and residential regeneration project, the result of nearly thirty years development.
