By: dror klar Home |

Natural building material is one of the most popular things going in new homes today. Even those who own older homes are remodeling using large quantities of natural stone. In side and outside, natures building material is serving a number of different purposes.

If you have already purchased materials like granite, marble, travertine, or limestone, then you know how expensive it can be to surface large areas. Natural stone is not cheap by any means and when you add the cost of installation, you can really bust a budget if you are not careful.

There is a less costly alternative available today to the natural blocks or large slabs. Man made stone veneer surfaces have been on the market for a long time, and these can be alright to use if you are not really worried about the value it adds to your home and it also does not look exactly real. They are also known to be called architectural stone, faux stone, and cultured stone.

The better alternative to man made stone veneer is real stone veneer. You can buy these sheets just like the man made versions. Natural stone veneer is a thin layer of natural stone that usually ranges in thickness from 3/4 of an inch to 2 inches. It can be purchased in many stone types such as sandstone, limestone, travertine, and more. These sheets of natural veneer can be so much easier to install than individual stones.

One of the most popular uses for natural stone veneer is to use as siding or facing for the exterior of homes. People love how they can give their home the great look of expensive natural material that is the real thing, only a lot more cost effective.

Some of these natural veneers can be irregular in shape and may be easier and cheaper to have installed because they do not have to match as closely. Rectangular or square veneer must be matched a little more closely because their mortar lines are straighter and can be a little tighter. A very good mason should be hired to make sure that the stone veneer is installed properly.

Natural stone veneers can be used inside the home as well. They can be purchase is solid sheets for countertops and surrounds for bathtubs or showers. The possibilities are the same as using thicker pieces of natural stone. The end results are just as beautiful because they are just as authentic.
