Nfl - Vikings Defeat Cowboys And Advance To The Nfc Championship Game

By: Stephen Lars Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Football

The Minnesota Vikings crushed the Dallas Cowboys 34-3 last Sunday. Dallas is left with no options, having lost all hope of participating in the Super Bowl XLIV.

With the victory, the Vikings advance directly to the NFC Championship, where they will face the New Orleans Saints. At this match, the Vikings will have an opportunity to add a fifth conference title, the last of which was obtained in 1976, when they beat the LA Rams (now of St. Louis) 24-13.

Brett Favre was responsible for leading his team to victory against the Big D. The 40-year old veteran quarterback contributed 234 yards, completed 15 of 24 passes, and converted 4 touchdowns.

Leaving behind the idea of retiring for a second time, Favre returned to the game with great enthusiasm. He did everything he could to give his new team a chance at the finals and the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Favre said he and his teammates were feeling very confident about winning in the decisive game.

Nor were his feelings wrong. The Purple Pride played one of the best games of the season, attacking strongly and pressuring opponents. The Vikings had the tactics to take the win, and now enjoy a unique opportunity to advance to the finals.

From the beginning, the Minnesota team imposed with fast and powerful plays that prevented Dallas from progressing. The Cowboys just couldn"€™t fully develop their playing strategy.

With just four minutes to end the first quarter, Minnesota thrilled the crowd with its first touchdown, scored by Sidney Rice. The goal intimidated Dallas, who continued playing defense, losing focus on offense. America"€™s Team just couldn"€™t open its scoreboard.

In the second quarter, ahead by 7, the Vikings kept control of the game, although they allowed one field goal. The visiting team took advantage of the only opportunity it had during the match to score.

During the third quarter, the game proceeded smoothly; no points were added.

In the fourth quarter, Minnesota"€™s powerful defense prevented the Cowboys from developing their attack. They pressed hard on Tony Romo, whose lack of precision caused him difficulty.

However, just starting the last quarter, Longwell sent a second field goal "€" 28 yards "€" that brought the Vikings another three points. With a score of 20-3, Minnesota looked unstoppable.

Favre"€™s excellent work made him the player of the game. He handled the ball effectively, tossing it to Rice to score a third touchdown in the game.

Despite enjoying a wide lead of 27-3, the Vikings continued their game strategy, increasing the score to 34-3 after a touchdown from Visanthe Shiancoe. The last touchdown occurred with less than two minutes left in the fourth. With this resounding victory, Minnesota completely overshadowed Dallas.
