Cyprus is a historical place. There are many places here which are steeped in historical significance. This island is located in the centre of the ancient world, popularly known as cradle of western civilisation and it is because of this reason that many tourists come here to study its interesting history. If you are the person who has interest in studying historical monuments and historical places then Cyprus could be a good place. I have a soft spot for everything related to history. My interest in this island developed because I heard a lot about its past. And I got the proof of what I heard when I came here. This land bears so many stories that should be made known to each and every person. Though it is a small Mediterranean island yet it has so many secrets that should be revealed. It is very cheap there. I opted for euro free holidays and it cost me not much. I had no difficulty in finding one of the best Famagusta hotels. I booked one of the best hotels before I landed here. I wanted nothing to give me any trouble. Many historical places for the interest of the tourists like me. I visited so many places and listing out the names of all the places I have seen there would not be possible. My stay during my Famagusta holidays gave me great many opportunities to come closer to the history of this place. I visited kyrenia gate, The bedstead, and the walls of the old city, Famagusta, Othello tower and Cathedral. So many places, I stayed for more than a month there and I really enjoyed my stay there. Museums here have always been of great interest to its visitors. There could no better way to let yourself know much more about the history of this place. Museums add to your knowledge or enhance your knowledge. There are many museums here for those people who would like to get familiar with its history. But I had the chance to visit only one museum here. I visited Mevlevi Tekke (museum of whirling dervishes). But if you come here next time do not forget to pay a visit to museums here. And if you do not then surely you are going to miss a studying this place fully. There are mosques here which you can visit. The most famous of all and the one often visited by almost all the visitors or the tourists here is the Lala Mustafa Pasa Mosque. You will find peace here. The mosque said to have been named after the leader who siege to the city in 1571. It is said that it was formerly a church by name: St. Nicolas Cathedral. There many other mosques which are known for their historical significance. Hala mosque is the most revered Muslim shrine in Cyprus. It is an holy site for all of the Muslims living in northern Cyprus. It reportedly houses the tomb of Umm Haram, the aunt of the last Prophet Mohammad. Most of the visitors who know come to pay a visit to this secret shrine. Other things that can be of interest to the tourists are Bellapais abbey in bellapais monastery village. So my friends I would like to tell you all not to miss visiting any historical sights here. Know the secret of this place, interesting stories to keep you attracted.
