Consider going with a DSL connection to make sure you have the available speed you'll need. Do your research online to find the best site for efficiency and information as you will be spending a lot of time practicing. If you decide on an acoustic guitar, which a lot of people do because it's a less expensive than an electric and more dependable, you'll want to find a site that teaches acoustic lessons. However, if you have the funds and choose to buy an electric guitar, that's okay too. Be advised that electric guitars may be somewhat easier to play, there's a lot of parts and piece that need to be attached to it.
