Opportunities Of Linkedin: A Foot In The Door.

By: PRANITH Home | Reference-and-Education

Liknedin provides a great service of connecting business minded people with business minded people. Professionals, students, just about anyone who is trying to succeed in a specific area of expertise (or a combination of things) need to exploit the people around themselves. The job market is getting more and more competitive as the economy dips and rises, there is always one constant, getting in the door through a contact.

That is why many people use Linkedin, because it allows people to not only make professional connections, but to display your own value and a route of communication. If you are new to Linkedin, it would be wise to watch a few tutorials on how Linkedin actually works via a online training source. The three major aspects of Linkedin"s power are connecting, displaying, and communicating. If you are new to Linkedin learn how to navigate and begin on your journey by also checking out online education websites!

Connecting:

Meet

Swift & Sweet Discussion

Company Card

No matter what the event may be, you are always networking. Many people miss the fact that the offline, in person connection is required in reaping truly great results on Linkedin. Between the first minute and the last minute of meeting your new connection, you should keep it quick and sweet. Do not boast too much, but make it known your three major achievements. As an example:

Started my own organization

Raised venture capital

Sold my company

Once you feel the conversation has played its course, go ahead and ask for a business card. This first step is the primer for your actions on Linkedin.

Displaying:

Resume

Recommendations

This step is relatively simple, follow the Linkedin instructions to fill out the entire profile. Filling out the entire profile says a few things:

Are you shielding something?

You are proud of your accomplishments

You are a experienced pro.

But, there are some elements that you should be more concerned with. Try to kill two birds with one stone on your resume. (i.e. recommendations sheds light on past, killing two birds with one stone).

Resume, it is part of every-one's job search process. Creating a clean, neat and one (2 pages if you are very experienced) resume will not only show you know how to communicate, but it will help fill out your profile on Linkedin more efficiently. Make sure your resume has your most recent accomplishments and your most notable accomplishments (i.e. say you sold a company for $10M vs. you started a successful dog walking business).

Recommendations is a Linkedin feature that allows you to receive past bosses on Linkedin to post a testimonials to your great work in the past. You will not only hear it here, but across the board that it is wise to have at least two or more recommendations on the Linkedin feature. This shows that people have worked with you and that everything you have on Linkedin is not just in "theory". Experience is very important in not only getting in the door to your dream job, but receiving good advice from fellow professionals. Experienced people want to deal with serious people who truly want to learn.

Communicating:

Friend Quickly

Coordinate a time to speakDo not confuse the rules of dating with business relationships (Get in contact immediately do not wait three days!). It is always a good idea to friend the new acquaintance stat (e.g. within a day after meeting) because that is when their image of you is best. He will be far more charged up to speak to you.

Before sending out your new friend request, it is better practice to send a message along with the friend request, requesting to grab coffee or talk on the phone real soon. If the new friend agrees you are on your way to getting in the door at your next dream job and check out a online training website to get the most out of Linkedin!
