People nowadays, are choosing organic coffee. However, few are aware of many facts behind organic coffee like organic farming and how is organic coffee grown?

Organic coffee is coffee that has been grown according to organic farming standards and procedure. Organic coffee farming is done without the using artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.

As the term organic suggests it refers to farming incorporated with terms like reprocessing, soil health and ecological safeguard.

Organic Coffee is grown devoid of artificial pesticides and fertilizers. Organic coffee develops the ecology of the farms and this further leads to improve water quality, topsoil retention, and increased biodiversity in surrounding areas. This method of farming has a minor impact on the environment and it keeps ecosystems protected. Since there are no harmful chemicals used in its production, Organic Coffee is said to be healthier.

Many coffee producers use various coffee certifications to produce and sell the Organic Coffee. Various organic coffee Certifications are: shade-grown, organic, and Fair Trade. This is an effort by these producers to make a more environment friendly product.

Generally organic coffee is grown in the shadow and this requires less land thus protecting forests from removal. This further leads to Soil erosion prevention and the natural wildlife habitats preservation.

Coffee is believed to be the heaviest chemically treated foodstuff in the world. Chemical used in coffee production is synthetic petroleum based fertilizers. This synthetic fertilizer slowly destroys the soil's fertility.

Leading organic coffee producers are Mexico, Peru, and Ethiopia. Organic coffee is also grown in 40 countries like Burundi, Cameroon, Ghana, Honduras, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Thailand, Vietnam, U.S. (Hawaii), and Zambia. However, all the coffee producers have to follow a criterion for coffee to be certified organic coffee.

Organic coffee market is growing larger and has many organic coffee lovers. Reason for the same is the health benefits of organic coffee and also because of it has lots of environmental benefits. Organic Coffee has a great flavor too. However, organic coffee market is still too small in comparison to normal coffee market.
