Most of these letters now extend immediate online approval, alluring students with luxurious visions of immediate cash. Students apply for the cards over the internet with cash in their vision, putting out of their minds all of the vexations which lie in wait like ravening wolves in their future. We all fall prey to seductions. Money I didn't earn myself is one of the simplest ones to fall prey to. Is this the credit card companies fault? No! We always have a choice between good and evil. In actuality, if the credit card companies wouldn't prey on students there would be much less indebtedness. Like sex, cash sells! When I consider what options I think I had in some of the temptations I've given in to in my life, I'm not so sure some students really have a decision in the matter. The bottom line is that if you're thinking about college, or a student just starting out, consider your other financial options. If you choose to apply for a credit card make sure you make all your installments on time and don't let your debt cumulate too big. If you're already well into the game and want to put a hold to your rising debt, get out your wallet and a pair of scissors, clip your student credit cards in half, and throw out all of your student credit cards.
