Pack Well For Travel

By: Trudie Simpson- Home | Travel-and-Leisure

Your longed for holiday has finally arrived. Are you well prepared for your trip? Often in the excitement leading up to departure essential luggage items can be over looked. Obviously a weekend away is different from an overseas trip so you must pack accordingly.

Make a list of what you think you need to pack then add the following. Your main three travel essentials to include are Toiletries, First Aid and Essential documents.

You may think that there is no point to packing these extra items. Take a moment to think about it. The time it would take out of your precious holiday to find a pharmacy at 2am for a headache tablet. Trying to explain diarrhea to a pharmacist that does not speak your language?

First Aid kits are now being produced to cover any type of travel. They come in neat compact kits for all budgets. They are useful to keep at home or in the car.Whatever type of travel you are doing there will be a kit to suit or you can put your own together.

Your basic kit should include the following: Pain relief medication, antiseptic cream, band aids and plasters. Stomach upset remedies and eye drops. Scissors, tweezers and safety pins are usually included. Remember to put your kit in with your main checked luggage. No good having it confiscated by customs before you leave the country!

Your toiletries should include essentials such as medicated wipes, tissues, dental floss or toothpicks and sun cream. If you are traveling outside of cities an insect repellent will be useful. Depending where you travel if the climate is very dry, lip balm and body moisturizer are advised. Emery boards for ragged nails will save you annoyance. Men don't forget your razor!

If you are on medication make sure you have enough for your whole trip and then some. Don't assume that your destination country pharmacy will stock your brand of medicine or that you will be able to get your prescription filled over seas.

At all times especially if traveling alone have emergency contact details on you. Also carry copies of your passport, your travel itinerary and your travel insurance details. Having your travel agents contact details can also be useful.

By taking the time to add a few extra items you can save yourself unnecessary worry. This small amount of extra planning is priceless. Bon Voyage!
