Paintball- Myths Vs. Facts Regarding Paintball Markers

Myths vs. Facts Regarding Paintball Markers

Guns vs. Markers - Paintball markers are feared by some as "just like guns," and looking like them. In fact, there are some types of paintball guns for sale that look like real weapons, but these are the minority. Most paintball markers are deliberately designed to look completely different so that they can't be mistaken for anything other than what they are - sports equipment. They are small, light and come in a variety of bright colors, often with fancy detailing. Tournament level paintball markers in particular focus on stylish, sleek designs that are unique.

Cheap Toys vs. Quality Equipment - Safety is another concern that many people mention. However, paintball markers are designed to rigorous standards and come with locking safety features and locking triggers in order to avoid accidental discharge of a paintball. The chances of someone being accidentally hit with paintball outside of the game is virtually non-existent.

Lots of Injury vs. Safe Sport - Some people claim they have heard about eye injuries from paintball that prove the sport is dangerous. They also mention the bruises that players can sustain from close-range hits. Let's put this in perspective. The AMA has repeatedly noted that the most common and severe injuries in sports for students comes from baseball and basketball. Baseball is especially prone to causing severe eye injuries. Paintball markers, however, don't cause eye injuries unless a group of players was improperly playing without the appropriate safety gear. Minor bruising is common to many widely accepted sports, including wrestling and football, where bruising is more severe and can be accompanied by torn ligaments and/or strained muscles.

Safety Gear is Essential

If you browse an online paintball store, you will discover that there is just as much focus on safety gear as on the paintball markers themselves. Every serious paintballers will tell you that safety gear, including protective eyewear (full coverage goggles and face gear) is an absolute must. In fact, if you even attempt to play paintball at a regulation field without proper safety gear, you will be asked to leave. There is no one more serious about safety than professional paintball players.

If you are considering paintball for yourself or your children as an action sport, take heart! It is truly one of the safest recreational activities around if you abide by the proper safety guidelines. So visit your online paintball store and don't forget that when you buy those paintball markers, you need to get protective gear and safety goggles. Then go out and have a fabulous, safe time!
