Panama Tourism

Panama Tourism

Until recently Panama was one of the best kept secrets of Central America. The country offers visitors such beauty and experiences that it is a surprise that it has only become a top tourist destination in recent years. Panama has always been of great interest to both North and South America as well as to the Europeans. This is both because of its unique location and also because of its resources. Until about the 19th century it was of interest because of the gold mines, thereafter it was the Panama Canal that was of interest to other countries. The canal greatly reduces the sailing time of vessels and ships in this region. And thus directly impacts the trade and economy of countries.

Today Panama ranks high on the list of international destinations. It is also one of the top places people want to live in after they retire. Panama forms a land bridge between North and South America. To its west is the North Pacific Oceana and to the east is the Caribbean Sea. The country is rich in diverse landforms and has archipelago of islands, beaches, mountains, a volcano and rainforests that it boasts of. It preserves its natural resources well and has many natural reserves and marine parks. It is this path to sustainable development that makes Panama Tourism a success.

Resorts and Hotels

Panama Tourism offers visitors plenty of choice on what they want to do and where they want to do it. You will arrive in the country at the Tocumen International Airport at Panama City. It is a good idea to do adequate research about the country and the region that you would like to visit. You can spend a few days at one of the resorts on the Pacific coast close to the capital. There are several for you to choose from. Plan a visit to the San Blas islands or the Pearl Islands. You may have seen this area before on the three series of the American show â€Survivor’.

You can also fly out to the eastern part of the country if you are interested in discovering thick rainforests in the interior of the country. This is a great area for diving and also for fishing.

You are sure to find a hotel or resort that is perfect for your budget and meets your requirements. When in the country don’t miss out on snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and whale sighting. Visit the many marine parks that the country has and see different species teeming in the clear and clean waters.

A visit to the Chiriqui province of the country shows you a different side to the country. The Highlands are a treat to the locals as they are to visitors to the country. The cloud forests here are a treat to explore and hike in. Plan a visit to Boquette, close to the Volcano Baru. The region is rich in coffee plantations and offers some of the sweetest oranges you would have ever tasted. It is also a good place to try a different kind of water sport, river rafting. You have the option of a single day or multiple day rafting trips. This is a wonderful way of experiencing some of the most remote regions of this province.
