Parry Sound - Cottage Country On The Shores Of Georgian Bay

Parry sound is located on the shores of the magnificent Georgian Bay, and is a major commercial hub for the Northeastern Georgian Bay area. This vibrant center serves a population of over 15,000 and is little more than two hours by four-lane divided highway from Toronto, Canada's largest metropolis. The town's location adjacent to the 30,000 Islands has made the community a prime visitor destination, with the summer population of the region swelling to over 75,000. The town hosts many people in the thousands of cottages in the region, over 100 resorts, several provincial parks and more than a dozen marinas.

Parry Sound's waterfront includes protected natural areas as well as vibrant people places where residents and visitors can enjoy the unique character of the town's waterfront all year round. The town offers full urban amenities in a nice natural setting. With many recreational activities, clubs and organizations to get involved in, Parry Sounds offers something for everyone at all ages.

The Bobby Orr Community center is located in the heart of the town and is home to some of the many sports clubs like the Shamrock Junior A" Hockey Club and the Parry Sound Figure Skating Club. The building is also equipped with banquet facilities with a capacity of 350. The town also has 6 baseball diamonds and has hardball, fastball and slo-pitch organization for most age groups. On the Georgian Bay you can camp, swim, snorkel, water-ski, fish or just enjoy the sandy beaches. In the winter time activities include snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, dog sledding, snowshoeing and much more. Also all year round the town is the home to many festivals and events like the Trysport Race Series, the Logging Days Festival, the Parry Sound Antique Car Show & Shine and the world famous Festival of Sound.

So come and tie up your boat at the marine, hike or jog on the waterfront fitness trails, golf at the 18-hole championship golf and country club, dine at the gourmet restaurants or on-board a vessel cruising the 30,000 Islands and shop downtown or at the mall. Its hard not to say that Parry Sound is the place to be.
