Partial Discharge Switchgear A Solution To Consider

By: Rick Martin Home | Shopping-and-Products

Like in so many cases, the electrical equipment can encounter many technical problems, one of it being the partial discharge. These discharges are usually the result of an old or low quality insulation, and if they are not prevented, they can they can generate serious loses, especially financial loses. However, there are some products that can help you prevent these loses, like the partial discharge switchgear, or partial discharge cables.

A partial discharge is actually a discharge of a liquid or solid electrical insulation that occur under high voltage stress. Usually, this happens when the insulation is either defective, old or it has a poor quality. However, there are several instruments that can detect and protect from these discharges.

The partial discharge switchgear is an instrument that detects these types of discharges by measuring the radio frequency part of the electromagnetic emissions. This instrument can be easily used by a single person, especially because it can be held in one hand and does not require any assistance. The partial discharge switchgear can detect if the partial discharge activity of a certain item is in the right parameters.

The most easily to detect parameters are the temperature and humidity. Nevertheless, there are others items like monitors and software that can offer a greater precision. Another item that can also be very useful in situations like these, are the partial discharge cables. This instrument helps to detect the presence of partial discharges and even to measure their magnitude. The partial discharge cables are often used with the partial discharge switchgear or with a diagnostic monitor in order to obtain a more accurate result.

In conclusion, taking into consideration the consequences that a partial discharge might have, we can all agree that having this instrument can be in handy and that they can spare us of a lot of trouble, not to mention costs.
