In 1985, Tom Haller was in search of a corporate gift for a retiring employee and came across a personalized ship in a bottle constructed from an award recipient's business card. This one-of-a-kind gift was a hit and led to him ordering numerous customized ships over the last 25 years. In 2008, the long-time supplier of the ship in a bottle retired, inspiring Tom Haller to continue to make these original masterpieces for those searching for a classic gift. Weddings, birthday, retirements, and other special occasions can all be commemorated with a personalized piece of art. Every ship is handmade and presented inside a half-gallon clear glass bottle atop a wooden stand with a custom engraved metal plate. The ship design options include a Skipjack, a Square Topsail Schooner, and a Double Masted Clipper and other models including a vintage aircraft are currently under development. The engraved brass plate on the wooden stand is a standard 1.25 inches by 2.5 inches that can display a maximum of three lines of 18 characters per line at a 13 sized font. Upgrades for the plate are available for an extra payment. An enlarged plate expands to 3.5 inches by 2 inches and displays up to four lines of 18 characters per line at an 18.6 sized font. One of the eye-catching features of this ship in a bottle is the optional intricate etching on the back of the glass bottle. For a reasonable price upgrade, you can include a beautifully etched scenic background for your ship. Adding a new dimension to the glass bottle, these backgrounds give the appearance that the ship is at a city port, passing a lighthouse, or leaving a Pacific Island.
