Perfume

By: Joss Ackland Home | Shopping-and-Products | Fashion-Style

Perfumes are available in many forms. Whether it is a spray, a deodorant or a lotion, they are designed to make people smell and feel better. It can be worn not only to make a fashion statement, but also to create a pleasant and lasting impression. If a person wears too much perfume, this could disrupt the environment and the people around. Wearing perfume is an art and should be applied in such a manner that allows the fragrance to interact with your body chemistry and produce your personalized version of the scent- or your signature scent.

In general a fragrance may last six to eight hours depending on the nature of an individual's skin. Fragrances tend to last longer on oily skin as there is more natural moisture to help retain the scent. Therefore, if you have dry skin, it would be a great idea to use a fragrance free moisturizer before applying perfume as this would delay the wearing off of the scent.

It is important to apply your perfume at the right places to make sure that the fragrance will last throughout the day. Pulse points are the best places on your body that yield the best results. The base of the throat, back of the neck, cleavage, wrists, crook of your elbows, back of the knees and even your ankles are some of the pulse points where the scent of your perfume will linger.

It is also wise to pair your selection of scent with the time of day, time of year and most importantly purpose. Day and summer fragrances should be subtle unlike evening and winter fragrances. Light and subtle fragrances add a certain spice to you without making a bold statement. This type of perfume is ideal for everyday wear.

However, on a night out with friends or on a hot date with your partner wearing a bold fragrance is the thing to do. But it is important to remember that although we consider our fragrance to enhance our appearance, those who surround us may not consider so. Some may have allergies to certain bold fragrances while some others may find a particular scent offensive. Therefore when wearing your favourite fragrance on a night out, try to remember that everyone has different tastes.

The ideal time to apply perfume is just after a shower or bath as the pores of your skin will be open and this in turn would make the scent last longer. Avoid spraying on jewellery and clothes as this would result in damages and stains.
