Phantomalert Claims Your Gps Can Spot Police Radar And Traffic Cameras 10 Miles In Advance

By: Thomas Palmieri Home | Computers-and-Technology

A new software developed by PhantomAlert claims: "When downloaded into your Garmin style GPS, the program will be able to show you police radar set up locations and red light camera spots, 10 miles in advance of the target". "Thus allowing you ample time to either slow down, or avoid the target area".

PhantomAlerts ground breaking GPS Radar is a simple point and click download for Garmin, Tom Tom, Magellen and other GPS Systems.

But, I wonder how good an idea this really is?

If a PhantomAlert system works that well, wouldn't every night racer, drug dealer, drunk driver, criminal escapee, kidnapper, etc., want to own one?

More times than not, police speed traps catch more than just speeders. They catch people with no insurance, no license, bald tires, and people suspected of crimes or who have outstanding warrants, just to mention a few.

So, I'm left here pondering this technology from PhantomAlert with much concern that leaves me split between the law, and bending the law (a smidge).

On the one hand, you have the law we must all abide by. But, sometimes those laws are silly. I.E. Let's say you have a stop light in an intersection that turns green every 3 minutes. It's 4 in the morning and you can see 5 miles in all directions. No cars coming. What do you do?

Nothing.

Most cities are installing new red light cameras and if you decide to "run it", their going to mail you a ticket.

And what the funny thing is, that ticket will not be coming from a municipality, rather, it will be coming from an independent security company!

That's right, cities hire out red light monitoring to private security companies.

You get the Bang, They get the Buck.

I think in this situation a GPS that spots red light cameras isn't such a bad thing. Especially if it also has the radar telling you no one is watching from the side lines. (Sorry Officer, you know you would do the same).

It would be like saving the environment, I tell myself. If I had to sit there for 3 minutes, think of the fuel I'll waste.

Wow. I just had an epiphamy. No more dillema. I'm now an official enviromentalist doing my part to save the air quality of our planet!

Yeah, think about it. If the highway is empty, and I go a little faster, I can roll the windows down, shut off the a/c and save on those carbon emmissions too!

Aint Technology Grand!
