Phones For The Hearing Impaired â'†Making Communication Easier

By: Alex Petrov Home | Communications | Mobile

Today, modern communication entails the use of mobile phones. These phones are primarily used for making voice calls. On the other hand, if you have difficulty in hearing, you are probably used to communicating by using sign language and reading body language. When a person is hearing impaired, he or she may have difficulty in understanding a person especially if the person speaks fast or in a soft voice.

There are different factors that influence the hearing of impaired persons like the pitch of the voice that depends on the speaker’s gender, intonation, distance, and effort. Voices can be overpowered by surrounding noises. The question is, how can we improve the communication between people and hearing impaired persons? One solution is to use devices such as phones for the hearing impaired. These gadgets can make communication easier for hearing impaired individuals.

Today, modern phones have electronic band adjustments and amplified hearing. Normally, these amplified phones contain a headset that has a volume control so that you can adjust the loudness and better hear the voice on the opposite end. T-coils can be installed in some phones so that hearing impaired individuals can hear the sound better. Feedback or resonance may also be experienced when the volume is turned up on the phones and headsets.

On the other hand, a good brand of mobile phone for hearing impaired individuals that can make their life easier is Just5. It has five basic features such as big buttons, user-friendly operation, amplified sound, long lasting battery, and an emergency (SOS) button. These cell phones are intended for people who have hearing problems, poor eyesight, senior citizens, people who appreciate the comfort of easy operation, and children who need a phone with basic functions.

These phones are ideal for hearing impaired individuals because it has a high volume speaker with an amplified sound that reaches up to 100 decibels. It also has a speaking keypad. Aside from that, it also has handy features that are very useful – large buttons to make calling and texting easier, a large digital display for accurate texting and dialing, a physical switch for locking and unlocking the keypad, an FM radio that can be used even without a headset, and a flashlight for emergencies.

Now, constant and clear communication can be done even when you are hearing impaired, thanks to phones that are specially designed to cater to those with hearing problems.
