Play Fast Guitar - Learn How To Take Your Guitar-playing To Extreme Speeds

By: Kyle Hoffman Home | Arts-and-Entertainment

Learning to play fast guitar is a dream of most young guitarists because it represents the famous guitarists that they love and idolize. You might picture your favorites up on the stage with their axe and they're just wailing away to no end with ease.

Contrary to what you might believe, achieving a level of playing such as this isn't the hardest thing to do. Check out these 4 tips for playing fast guitar and watch your playing slowly begin to speed up.

1. Use a metronome for practice purposes.

The purpose of a metronome is to keep your guitar-playing smooth, but also in the confines of a beat. Not only is this a good way to measure the speed in which you play, but it's practice for performing with a band.

2. Write down and log all of your progress.

Keeping track of what you have accomplished and where you need improvement is a great way to keep your eye on the prize. Purchase a relatively cheap metronome and use it every time that you're warming up before performances.

3. Use the information from guitar blogs to keep you going.

There's so much information out on the web at your disposal that you can't possibly not achieve a faster guitar speed. Check out a guitar blog or forum to learn secrets and tricks from other guitarists just like you.

4. Don't abandon your technical detail.

When you first attempt to play fast, the idea that leaving your detailed playing behind might sound like a good idea. It's not however. Keep as much technical ability in your playing and you'll find your guitar speed improving faster.

The journey to playing faster guitar is sometimes long, but it doesn't have to be. Don't get caught up in frustration and just let the smooth vibes of the guitar flow through you with each practice.
