Portable Space Heaters Can Make You More Comfortable

By: Paula Adams Home | Home-and-Family

Whether you're looking for a small or large space heater, you can find one within your budget. Different space heaters were made to do different jobs. Figure out what you need your space heater to do and then you can determine which type will be the best for you.

Fuel space heaters are also called kerosene or propane space heaters. These are perfect when a storm takes out your electricity. They are great when used on camping trips or for outdoor patios. Notice the use of the word, outdoor. Fuel space heaters are dangerous indoors because they can cause carbon monoxide poisoning. You must use them in well ventilated areas or outdoors.

Portable space heaters work best when you want to heat up one room. Don't waste electricity heating up the areas in your home that you don't use much. If you turn the thermostat down for the whole house, you can then use a space heater to heat up just the rooms you need, when you need them. Using a space heater can make your rooms much more comfortable.

As the cost of gas and kerosene continue to rise, they are no longer the most economical and people are looking to electric ones as an alternative. Portable electric heaters are at their best when heating smaller rooms. Convection and radiant space heaters are the most efficient and safe heaters. They are a type of electric heater. Electric room heaters emit 100 percent of the energy consumed. The newer models of radiant and convection heaters do not get hot on the outside so they are not as dangerous to children and pets. An electric heater with a fan can heat up a big room quick and easily.

Room heaters come in all shapes and sizes. You can find a small radiant heater that will heat up just the space around one person or an electric heater that works like a fireplace. Don't be worried about money, you can get a good, inexpensive heater. Do your research and determine which space heater does what you need.

Quartz infrared heaters are very efficient, radiant-style heaters. Infrared heaters use rays like the sun to heat up people and objects. It only takes about five minutes to heat the room and the outside of the heater does not get hot. When using an infrared heater the air stays dry because it is not burning up the oxygen in the air.

To heat a garage or other outdoor or separate building you should think about getting a portable room heater. If you have a heat pump in your house, you probably think that you will never get rid of that chill in the air. A radiant room heater makes you toasty in your home - something a heat pump can't do.
