I'm a new man. Over the last few years I've shed over one hundred and forty pounds of unwanted fat. I have a new attitude toward food and have learned to love the exercising. When my weight was at its height, I was over 425 pounds. I was diabetic and near death. And I was certainly no where near being able to stay on the treadmill or stationary bike for an hour at a time. Now I spend an hour a day, every day, at the gym. The results are improving my life on all fronts. So why all the bragging? I'd like to take this opportunity to talk about patience, perserverance and self persuasion. These three attributes are like muscles and can be built up just as you build your biceps. To learn persuasion, one day a week isn't going to be enough to pump you up. It's like trying to work out one day a week and expecting amazing results. Building muscle requires consistency. Frequent short periods of exercise and study are of more benefit than one three hour stretch of exercise performed less frequently. Aside from that, it's much easier to find ten or fifteen minutes a few times a day than carving out a much larger period of time. For some of us patience is a four letter word. We're movers, shakers, doers, persuaders. We get things done because we don't take no for an answer. And here comes the but. . . But, I implore you to be patient with yourself. Some things come easier to some people, some things come slower. Persuasion is so multidimensional, such a layered and rich body of knowledge that there's very little possibility of learning it and utilizing it all at once. With that said, I do everything in my power to streamline the process and have made significant advances towards this end. And still, it takes time. It's an ongoing education. We're at the edge of the persuasion frontier and that is thrilling. We are at the edge of the persuasion frontier and that is awe-inspiring. And we are the pioneers so we learn from each day, each session, each exercise, each seminar. That's a lot to digest. (Back to the food metaphors!) With our intentions firmly set to learn all that we can about how to influence, we add layer upon layer of persuasion muscle to our work lives, personal lives and public lives. Slowly (depending on how much energy you're willing to put out), but surely we will build our persuasion arsenals into tight, toned, compact, (or bulky, depending on your taste), versatile, strong, and powerful tools. I can't tell you how much it thrills me to be your persuasion personal trainer.
