One of the biggest myths in the world today is that jewelry has to be expensive. Whether you are watching a commercial, chatting online with friends or simply doing some window shopping, one of the most ubiquitous things that you are going to see around is that jewelry has to be expensive. There is this perception in the public eye that there is indeed a positive correlation between the quality of the jewelry and how much it costs. While this is true if all other factors are equal within the pieces of jewelry being compared, what you will find immediately upon closer inspection is that a lot of factors are quite often unequal when jewelry pieces are compared. Here are some things that might affect the price of the jewelry without really affecting the quality of that same jewelry in any real way. The first one is the design of the jewelry itself. For example, if you have ever taken the time to shop around for rings, you might notice the wide disparity in the designs of the various rings that are on sale nowadays. In other words, some rings have far more intricate designs than others. Well, creators of rings, whether they are manufactured manually or automatically, are going to take more time to create more complicated designs and therefore you can expect the price to go up because of the old economic adage that time is money. However, does a more intricate design necessarily mean more quality? Absolutely not! Design is in the eye of the beholder and if you don't mind paying more money to get a complicated design, then feel free to go ahead. However, if you want to save money and retain quality, then buying a less intricate design is always a good way to go. In addition to design, the materials that are used are also going to factor into the price of the final piece of jewelry. For example, gold and silver jewelry is always going to be expensive because gold and silver themselves are expensive materials. Stainless steel on the other hand is a cheap manufactured material that doesn't cost anywhere near as much as gold and silver, but the quality can be argued to be the same. When one is speaking about quality in jewelry, it is erroneous to bring the materials into it. Quality deals with the construction, the maintenance and the durability of an item rather than the materials used to make it and while materials themselves often can factor into quality, there is very little difference quality wise between gold, silver and stainless steel. The main difference is that stainless steel is a lot cheaper and therefore allows you to retain quality while reducing cost. In addition to design and materials, there are a number of other factors that could play into the price without having a difference in the quality. Country of origin is one and method of selling is another. It is important that you take all of these things into consideration because if you do, then it becomes easy to see that quality jewelry doesn't have to be expensive.
