Recipes For Dips Make A Great Party

By: Lee MacRae Home | Arts-and-Entertainment

Throwing a party is a great way to meet people if you have just moved into a new neighbourhood. Or maybe you just want to some new friends to get to know and get closer to that great group of friends you already have. Whatever your reason for throwing a great party, you want to make sure everyone enjoys themself and finds it easy to mix together.

One of the great ways to ensure people mix together and get to know each other is to have a table of snack and drinks where everyone can mingle. Finger foods along with great dips is a surefire way to make everyone happy. A party without a great dip or two [or three] is a lifeless party. I am giving you my favorite dip, a 7 layer dip that I just know everyone will enjoy. And believe me, being a 7 layer dip instead of the standard one layer dip only adds to the conversation as well!

7 Layer Dip Recipe

1 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons grated onion
1 16-ounce can refried beans
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup green onion, chopped
2 large avocados
1/2 cup black olives, sliced
1 cup sour cream
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
1 cup tomatoes, chopped

# Using a small bowl, mash the refried beans with a fork to soften, and then stir in the garlic and cumin. Thin the bean mixture, if necessary, with a little water, milk,

or, preferably, sour cream. Spread the bean dip evenly on a large serving platter.

# Now cut the avocados in half, lengthwise, and remove all the seeds. Scoop out the meat into a small bowl; mash it with a fork and stir in the grated onion. Carefully

spread the avocado dip onto the bean dip to within 1/2" of the edge of the bean dip.

# Add the remaining layers one at a time, each to within 1/2" of the last layer, do it in this order: sour cream, Cheddar, Monterey Jack, green onions, tomatoes, and black

olives. Whoops! That's 8 layers. Quick, eat a layer!

# Serve with tortilla chips. This recipe for dip makes a lot.

Add in a number of fine desserts like various cheescakes, chocolate macaroons or walnt fudge and you'll have a hard time getting anyone to end the party at all.
