Remove Hdd Fix, It Is Not A Legitimate Optimization Program

By: Ms Mindy Matter Home | Computers-and-Technology | Software

The hard drive of your computer is like the foundation of your house. If a contractor were to come to your home and tell you that you need to fix it or your house would fall down, you would be understandably worried. So worried you may not take the time to check into this contractor before paying a hefty deposit. This is exactly what rogue optimization programs do; when they warn you that your hard drive is severely corrupted, they are hoping you will react immediately. HDD Fix is a rogue antivirus/optimization program that is designed purely to profit from your need to keep your machine safe.

The Rogue HDD Fix

Like other rogue antivirus programs, HDD Fix will flood your machine with pop-ups and false stability and performance scans to convince you that your hard drive and RAM are in serious danger of failing. â€Act fast and buy our software†could be the mantra of any rogue program, and HDD Fix is no different. Its messages center on your hard drive, which makes it a bit different than rogue antivirus programs, which tend to focus on security, infections, viruses, and trojans. But like these other rogues, this fake optimizer only has one objective: to convince you to purchase their ineffective software, or more accurately, scareware.

Getting to Know HDD Fix

How do you know if you have a rogue optimization program in your system? They typically behave in an identical manner to rogue antivirus programs, and you will notice the following:

False scans. When you launch Windows, HDD Fix starts itself and produces false scan results. While it can't really scan your computer, that doesn't stop it from displaying false results. This bolsters the illusion of serious issues with your computer, and you will be urged to activate the â€Advanced Module†to relieve the issues.

Blocked access to files and programs. Unlike viruses, rogue programs can modify your security settings so they can run undetected. When you try to run legitimate security programs, you will receive â€critical error†messages. The rogue program also makes it impossible to view certain files or folders. You will receive a message saying that there are no contents to display, which, again, is designed to convince you of hard drive problems.

Pop-ups. These appear in your taskbar or after you try to access programs or files and they warn you of severe problems in your hard drive or with your RAM.

HDD Fix is able to access your system through trojans, which can be hidden in video codecs, P2P files, freeware, free ad-on, including screensavers and torrents, and sites with adult, gaming, pirated, or other â€questionable†content. The paid version is installed by users who are convinced their hard drive is in danger or their computer is unstable. Because it can download itself without your knowledge and potentially waste your money, it is important to recognize and remove HDD Fix immediately.
