Renewable Energy As A Solution To The Energy Crisis

By: Allen Owen 2 Home | Home-and-Family

It is bcoming important that we reduce our dependency on non-renewable sources of energy, with an energy crisis looming. Renewable energy solutions are energy solutions that can keep producing energy without exhausting resources. There are three types of renewable energy: solar,hydro-electric and wind energy.

Solar energy: The sun's energy is the most abundant energy available on earth. You can use this free energy by using solar panels at home. This will not only reduce your power bill but also help you contribute to a greener world. Solar power can consist of solar cookers, solar heating systems, solar lighting systems, solar dryers etc.

The sun has always been a source of heat and light. As technology has advanced, solar energy can be converted to other forms of energy.

Solar energy systems have many advantages apart from being cost-effective and environmentally friendly. They are low maintenance thus saving you time and effort. Also, solar power systems give you a return on investment very soon, thus making the systems free after some time. Cooking with solar energy is also considered to be extremely healthy. Families have started employing solar energy as a power solution at their homes.

Hydro electric:Hydro-electric systems can be a very effective renewable energy source. Hydro-electric energy is typically generated on a large scale. It's estimated that 90 percent of the electrical energy produced by renewable resources is produced solely by hydro-electric power.

There have been some concerns about using hydro-electric dams because they may adversely affect the ecology of rivers and lakes.

Wind energy: Windmills have been in existence since the Iron Age. They have been used to help tow boats and pump water. Now, they are also used to produce electricity.

Windmills and wind turbines have never lost their popularity. Wind energy can generate megawatts of electricity, and when employed at individual homes, it can help eliminate conventional power sources.
