You may feel young and energetic even at the time of your retirement. So, you may plan for your second career post retirement. Without being depending solely upon the social security benefits, you can keep on enjoying the life that you used to have pre retirement. Being engaged in some work post retirement, keeps the retirees mentally stimulated as well well-connected with their professional network. A variety of retirement careers options are available for the individuals.

Retirement Career Options

A survey report says that nearly 30% of the US citizens in the age bracket of 65 to 69 are working. So, it is never late to begin a new career. Reasons behind the rising trend of the retired persons opting for new jobs are listed below

1. To stay fit and active
2. To supplement pension
3. To follow passion

A variety of retirement careers options are available. Few of these options are described below.

Continue with the Current Job

One can sometimes discuss with the company where he or she was working before his retirement to extend the work period. The retired person can also look for some other company of similar type. His or her years of experience may come very handy for the company where the retired person joins post retirement.

Working as Part Time Basis

Retirees sometimes want to maintain a balance between the stress of the full time job and complete worklessness of a retired life. For those, a part time job can indeed be a good option. They can also opt for a consulting job or a job of freelancing. These kinds of jobs allow the person the required flexibility to work in accordance with his or her own schedule.

A new career

During this phase of life, individuals get sufficient time to pursue their own interest. They might be having some hobbies such as arts, writing or golf. Retirement provides them ample time and opportunity to pursue own hobbies. In this way, they can increase their happiness quotient.

Starting own business

With years of experience, the retired person can start his or her own business. They can put in their experience, money and time in the new venture.

Retirement careers open all opportunity that you could continue your life contributing to some activities as well as earning income for independent living. It also helps in making your Retirement Planning successful.
