San Bernardino County Legal Separation: When Divorce Is Not An Option

By: Beth Ibarra Home | Legal

Marriage can be extremely tough. Many young couples enter into marriage with high hopes that their love will stand the test of time.

Unfortunately, changes do sometimes occur, and many couples are left wondering what went wrong in their marriage. Often times, when it becomes too tough to endure, couples choose to end their marriage and end their lives together.

However, this option is not always available to couples. Sometimes divorce is not an option for spouses even though they want to end their marriage due to a variety of circumstances and they instead opt for a San Bernardino county legal separation.

Some people do not realize that divorce is not always an option for some people and also do not fully realize what a San Bernardino county legal separation is. First of all, some people search for a way to take apart from their spouse when their marriage is on the rocks.

They search for a way to take this time apart because they are not completely ready to end their marriage and they want some time away to think about their marriage and if it can be fixed. Sometimes they think that a San Bernardino county legal separation is this time apart that they have been searching for.

This is not the case however, because the separation is not at all designed as a simple break from the marriage and it actually is carried out much like a divorce, only in the end, the couple is still married.
This is also where family law can be a valuable asset.

If you are the spouse that would like to take a break from your marriage and have looked into a San Bernardino county legal separation as the break, you will probably want to consult with family law so that they can fully explain all of the details. Family law will have the knowledge to help come up with the best option for your situation, even if the separation is not the right choice.

Now, on to the reasons why a San Bernardino county legal separation is usually chosen by a couple. There are several popular reasons why a separation is chosen by couples.

Divorce is against the religion of some couples, but when their marriage becomes too difficult to handle, they search for alternatives that will allow them to live apart from their spouse. These spouses often use the separation as a way to break apart their life with their spouse while still maintaining their religious views.

Another reason why a separation is sometimes chosen is when a couple wants to end their marriage, but one spouse is in need of medical treatment and they will only be covered by their insurance when the marriage is still in tact. If the separation is chosen in this case, the couple will still technically be married and that spouse would probably still receive the insurance coverage for the medical treatment.
