Based in San Francisco, California -- the 49ers are a professional football team that was established back in 1946; they started out playing for the American football conference Western division (1946 to 1949), from 1950 until today they have been part of the NFL and have had two years of participation with the national conference and from 1953 to 1969 they were part of the Western Conference.
