Santana Golf Course Costa Del Sol Spain

By: Grahame Simpson Home | Recreation-and-Sports

Santana Golf Course and Country Club is located between La Cala de Mijas and Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol and offers spectacular panorama of the Mijas Mountains. It is also very close to the Mediterranean Sea, designed amongst the oranges and avocados orchard. It is situated where nature and golf become one.

Santana Golf Course is spectacular in the way of design as well as location. This is a contemporary golf course which is about 6300 meters long and is designed at Puerto de Santa Maria in the bay of Cadiz.

The course has been created sensitively by the course architect Cabell B. Robinson. It is a completely natural golf course which has come up as an outstanding place with extensive and well defined fairways on level territory allowing you to walk along easily. The water bodies play an important but not an excessive role in the complete design of the golf course.

This golf course is still young but gives a feeling of an established course and has become favorite with several of the golfers who visit the Costa del Sol Golfing region. Santana has a lot of character with its broad fairways, a stream running through its grounds and the markings on the boundaries. In fact it is a very pastoral course, where you can see no houses or roads. Every hole has its own individuality and will be enjoyed by golfers of all skill sets.

The greens are huge and have been maintained well, with the trails placed strategically between the avocado trees adding to the personality of the course. A number of fruit trees like mango, avocado, orange, eucalyptus, lemon and fig have been planted to enhance the look of the club and it also provides protection from the sun. To add to the challenge of the golf course there are four lakes which are in the natural depressions and several streams.

This course is good for all levels of golfers and there are four tees on every hole, two for competitions and two for other golfers. The stunning surroundings with its natural ambience offer golfer a dominant impression of maturity in all the facets of the course. Santana Golf if seen technically is a difficult course, with its exceptional design of every hole which has been made to provide an incessant challenge to all golfers even the more experienced ones. The greens are well guarded by the bunkers, and the several water hazards dotted around the course, will confront every golfer and an excellent course management and use of all golf shots in your kitty is needed to come up with the winning score card.

There is no doubt that it is one of the most enjoyable course for the golfers to lay a round of golf, especially when the greens are sheltered but not bordered by water or bunkers. The final hole offers a very challenging finish to the attractive course with a lake and the avocado trees on both sides, making the fairway very narrow. You have to be extra careful with the approach shot as the green is very uneven. Anytime, Santana Golf Course offers a wonderful round of golf and when you have playing here once you will want to test your golfing skills again.
