Use a List By keeping a list handy, you can jot things down when you think of them. Don't wait until you need to go grocery shopping to create a list. Keep a list nearby and write things down as you notice them. Keep track of errands that you must run in the same way. This will save time, frustration, and needless trips for those forgotten items. Meal Planning Create a menu for the upcoming week. If you need any groceries, add them to your grocery list. Buy larger quantities if possible. A well stocked pantry will save you time and money. Prepare Extra Rather than prepare enough for one meal, consider making enough for several meals. Allow to cool, store in freezer bags or containers, and freeze. The next time you are pressed for time, simply heat and eat. I like to use this method for sloppy joes, taco meat, meatballs, meatloaf, pizza burgers, and many others. I also like to keep several bags of browned ground beef in the freezer. Cleaning Routine Doing a little bit of cleaning each day will save you quite a bit of time. Try to create a routine that fits your lifestyle. If you are single with no children, there is no reason that you should need to mop the floor more than once or twice a week, on the other hand, if you have three children under the age of five, you may need to mop every day. At the very least, you should be able to wake to a clean and uncluttered home each morning. Get the Kids to Help Save time by giving your children daily chores. Toddlers can help by picking up toys. Older children can help with a variety of chores depending on their ages and abilities. Not only will you save time, but you will provide your children with valuable lessons about responsibility. Share Responsibility With all the activities that kids participate in, sometimes it may seem that you are constantly running from one place to the next. You are not the only one. Get together with other parents and help each other out. One week you can bring the kids to an activity and the next week someone else can bring them. Everyone will appreciate a little break from all the running. Just think of all the time that you will save.
