Scarsdale Diet Menu

The Scarsdale Medical Diet was created by a medical doctor working on the theory that significant weight loss could be attained through a diet low in carbs and low in fats, a unique combination never previously seen in other diets.

The Scarsdale medical diet details a meal plan that must be strictly followed over a period of no more than 14 days. The plan outlines a menu for 7 days which is then repeated for the second week.

Drinks that are permitted include tea, coffee, water, diet soda, non calorie drink. Sugar must be replaced with a calorie free sweetener and milk, cream or honey is not allowed.


Day One:

Breakfast:
grapefruit
One slice protein toast
Beverage of choice

Lunch:
Cold cut meats with tomatoes
Drink

Dinner:
Broiled fish or shellfish
One slice protein toast
Green salad
grapefruit

Day Two:

Breakfast:
grapefruit
One slice protein toast
Drink

Lunch:
Fruit salad
Drink

Dinner:

Lean broiled hamburger
Tomatoes, celery, cucumbers
Brussel Sprouts
Drink

Day Three:

Breakfast:
grapefruit
One slice protein toast
Drink

Lunch:

Tuna Salad with lemon and vinegar dressing
grapefruit
One slice protein toast
Drink

Dinner:
Broiled pork
Green salad
Drink

Day Four:

Breakfast:
grapefruit

One slice protein toast
Drink

Lunch:

Two eggs, cooked any way without oil
Cottage cheese
String beans or tomatoes

One slice of protein bread
Drink

Dinner

Broiled, roasted or barbecued chicken with skin removed
Green Beans, spinach or green peppers
Drink

Day Five:

Breakfast:

grapefruit
One slice protein toast
Drink

Lunch:

Low fat cheese
Spinach
One slice protein toast
Drink

Dinner:

Broiled fish or shellfish
One slice protein toast
Green salad

Day Six:

Breakfast:

grapefruit
One slice protein toast
Drink

Lunch:
Fruit salad
Drink

Dinner:
Broiled or roast turkey / chicken with skin removed
Tomato and lettuce salad
grapefruit
Drink

Day Seven:

Breakfast:
grapefruit
One slice protein toast
Drink

Lunch:
Chicken / turkey with the skin removed
Tomatoes
Carrots
Cooked cabbage
Broccoli or cauliflower
Drink

Herbs, seasonings, mustard, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar and lemon can all be used in moderation.
