Pepper Sprays Pepper spray is among the simplest non-lethal self-defense weapons. If attacked, you can spray pepper spray on the assailant to temporarily stop him from pursuing you. Pepper spray works by causing the membranes in the nose and throat to swell as well as swelling in the veins in the eyes. The attacker's eyes will swell shut so he won't be able to see to pursue you...not to mention he'll be to busy gasping for breath! Though pepper spray gives you and your family members a powerful defense, it comes in very small, convenient packages with a variety of styles for all ages. You'll find pepper spray lipstick, pepper spray key chains, pepper spray booklets and even pepper pens. All these look like common items, but they'll give your attacker a very unpleasant surprise. Animal Repellers If you or a member of your family love to walk, jog or even hike in park areas or on nature hiking trails, it's a good idea to be prepared in case of an animal attack. Dogs and bears are particularly notorious for attacking humans. Luckily there are a number of animal repellers you can use to ward off an animal attack. One is the Super Dog Chaser, which gives off a very high-pitched, unpleasant sound to scare away a dog. It is not audible to humans, and will not harm the dog. It also had a super bright LED flashing strobe to temporarily blind and confuse the dog. Or, you can opt for Mace Canine Spray. Bear repellant pepper spray is designed to ward off bears similarly to regular pepper spray, but in a safe manner for bears. Two brands that are registered with the EPA are Mace Bear Spray and Guard Alaska Bear Repellant.
