Every business is always, or at least they should be, trying to come up with new ways to bring more customers into their store. One of the easiest ways to do this is by simply placing a sidewalk sign in front of your business. I know it sounds too simple, but you would be surprised how much this one little sign can do for your small business. One of the biggest reasons a small business fails is because no one knows the business exists. You can't just build it and expect the people to come. One rule of thumb is to never assume that people see your business. For example, has something ever been right in front of your face, but you still didn't see it? Of course it has, you have probably lost your keys a million times, only to find them 10 minutes later sitting right on top of the kitchen counter. Thats the way it is with your business, just because its right in front of your potential customers face, doesn't mean they will see it. You have to make them see it. Your job is to grab their attention and make them notice your business. If you don't, people will just continue to look over your business. And thats where a sidewalk sign comes into play. When people see a sign, their natural reaction is to try and read what the sign says. This is where you will hook them. Offer them such an outrageous deal that they will have no choice but to stop. If you have a clothing store, offer a buy one get one half off special. If you run a nail salon, have a day where everything is 50% off. If you run a barber shop, have dollar Tuesdays where anyone can come in and get a fade for just $1. These are just very simple ideas. The goal is to advertise a really great deal on your sidewalk sign. When people see it, they will want to take advantage of it. You are only limited by your imagination. You just have to be willing to try new and outrageous things. Don't go in it thinking that your deal won't work. If you do that, it probably won't. Try everything with the right attitude. If something doesn't work, you can quickly change it. Its all about trial and error. The quicker you see what doesn't work, the closer you will be to what does.
