One reason I often hear when I ask organizations why they do not make their own newsletter printing is they do not have the time. They usually outsource newsletter printing to an external party hoping that they will be able to capture what the organization intends to do. Is lack of time the problem? This is a convenient way out for not doing print newsletters yourself. Most often than not, they are just procrastinating or postponing for some reason. Every one of us has his or her own inner resistance when trying to get started. If you have experienced this, read these tips to help you get started on your newsletter. 1. Commit to it. People do not seem to get around doing the newsletter because their heart is not into it. If you set a goal, commit to it. It will be hard to achieve anything if you are not convinced with your goal yourself. It will be difficult for you to continue working on something that you are not enjoying in the first place. The key here is to find what will motivate you to work on your newsletter. This could put the task in a different light and suddenly you will feel eager to work on it. 2. Develop your timetable Any newsletter printing task is overwhelming. What you need to do is break it down to chunks. When you do this, you can see more clearly what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. Through this strategy, you can develop your own timetable. A timetable helps to guide you as you go about the various stages of your newsletter printing. 3. Simplify the task Any newsletter work is daunting. As daunting as it is, you don’t have to overcomplicate things. If you do there is a bigger chance that you will give up before accomplishing anything. So for instance, you are in a bind whether to use a particular font or not, just go ahead and choose whatever you think is acceptable based on your standards. If you are still doubtful whether you can make your own print newsletters, just stop. Stop thinking and start working. Just go and sit in front of your computer, open a file and start hammering away. This will not only jumpstart the process, it will also put you in the right frame of mind. So, if you have doubts, stop. Just do it.
