If there is any one of the main and biggest innovative developments for human being today, then definitely it is power generation. It goes without saying that power has become one of the essential requirements and indispensable entities with its equipments that you can see anywhere. Today, not only in organizations, but in households you can see running electric fans, fridges, TV, single phase electric motor to heavy three phase electric motor to a number of other electrical and electronic applications. Apart from this, air conditioners, big blowers, large machines and a number of other appliances also need electric power to run. But, power that run all the electrical equipments also need electric motor ranging from single phase to three phase. Talking about the single phase electric motor, then it works on the simple principle of the rotation of a rotor that is current given to a starting winding that is also responsible to generate a torque to drive electrical equipments. However, it depends upon the application and the power load, but a motor must need to be carefully selected by keeping a number of facts in mind. A single phase electric motor can be divided into different types (four types) including split phase, capacitor start, permanent split capacitor and capacitor run. Talking about the split phase, then it consists of automatic switch that stop the motor from running in case the rotor reaches to full load speed. Apart from this, capacitor start is a series with starting winding that is responsible for the rotation of the rotor. Moreover, permanent split capacitor is permanently connected to thestarting winding for uninterrupted use. One of the main advantages of this single phase electric motor is that it ensures the use of low starting current as well as also increases the reliability. In addition to the aforesaid single phase electric motors, capacitor run is also considered as worthwhile as it has two capacitors. The first one is for startup; while the other is to run the motor. It can be said that for power generation, the single phase electric motor is an optimum as well as efficient method.
