Skin Types And Acne Treatments

By: IC Home | Health-and-Fitness | Acne

Acne is a very common problem which affects teenagers as well as adults, it has serious aesthetic implications and it has also been said to be the cause of low self-esteem and social awkwardness. Treating this skin condition is crucial for individual who are highly social and care about the way they look. In the last few years there have been several medical developments which may help the chance to suffer this problem to overcome it and regain their natural looking skin.

Recent polls have shown that when it comes to acne treatment not many people know exactly how to deal with it, the most common reaction for those who suffer of this condition is to keep touching the affected area in order to burst the zits, this is it nervous reaction which can get chronic without the person even knowing. The problem with people who keep touching the affected areas is that by touching them they think the problem is going to go away but in fact, it gets worse.

Current diverse peoples with dirty hands and fingernails will only help propagate such infections and irritate the already affected area, even if a person's hands seems to be clean there are several types of bacteria that a person can carry just because he or she touched an object that might have had such microorganisms.

Bursting zits is not a recommended method of treating acne neither it is recommended to use strong topical solutions which are based primarily on alcohol due to the fact that such substance tends to irritate most people's skin, in some cases alcohol-based solutions in order to treat skin types which are oily.

Aqueous substances our better for normal to dry skin types, they can moisturize and hydrate large dry areas, they could not irritate the skin when they come in contact with it and on top of that they are water-based and alcohol free.

Certain creams which have been designed to combat acne can use normal to oily skin types as well, unlike water-based substances they cannot cover such wide areas but they can moisturize dry skin because it is easily absorbed by it. Foams can also be applied to this particular skin type that they can cover a wide area however, its weak point is that he can't hydrate and moisturize like water-based solutions can, foam products are also expensive.

Other products designed to treat acne come in the form of gel, these products can be used in normal to dry skin types as they contain glycerin and dimethicone which are substances that help to prove skin hydration, these products are used to cover very small and targeted areas so he wouldn't be recommended to use gel-based treatments in order to heal a big area.

Ointments can also be used to treat acne but they are usually greasy so if you haven't already oily skin it is recommended to use another type of product such as lotions. Since skin types vary from person to person it is very difficult to recommend a single product for everyone because it will not work, you need to determine what type of skin you have and then choose the best product according to the size of the area that you want to target and the consistency of your skin. If your problem is severe and includes abnormal redness of the skin as well as bleeding it is recommended for you to contact a specialist in order to get the proper solution, for all others off the shelf products will work just fine.
