Sleep Your Way To A Longer, Healthier Life

By: Tom Willmar Home |

Let's face it, everyone needs and deserves a good night's sleep. Sleeping well at night not only helps the individual face the day in a cheerier manner but it also makes for a more productive individual during the day. In addition to these reasons, sleeping can also increase one's chances of living a longer and healthier life.

- Ways Sleep Promotes Long, Healthy Lives

Some may be a bit unsure about the true beneficial aspects of a good night's sleep but it is the truth. Sleeping well not only provides individuals with a healthier overall lifestyle but it is this lifestyle which may help to promote a longer life as a result. The way this is accomplished is that sleep equates with good health. Studies have shown that individuals who get a less than adequate amount of sleep per night are more likely to be susceptible to various health risks. With that said, one who is more susceptible to health risks is one who may have a greater chance of having a shorter life span than their healthy counterparts.

- Ways to Improve Sleep

It is important to know that there are ways to ensure a good night's sleep each and every night. One item that may work wonders in aiding an individual in sleeping well is an adjustable bed. Adjustable beds are beds where the head portion and leg portion can be rearranged to promote better sleep. These beds are wonderful options for those individuals who cannot get a good night's sleep due to tossing and turning without the ability to assume a comfortable position. Adjustable beds provide options for these individuals in that they can find a sleeping position which works best for them one night and then alter the position the next should they need to do so.

Another way to improve sleep at night is to limit the intake of caffeinated beverages during the daytime. A cup of coffee or two is fine in the morning but as the day progresses be aware that caffeine in one's system may linger for a few hours and disrupt a potentially good night's sleep. Try drinking beverages which have no caffeine or simply forego the caffeine late in the day. One should also be aware of the fact that certain foods contain caffeine as well, such as chocolate.

- Conclusion

Being well rested when one starts their day is extremely important. An individual who gets a good night's sleep will be more likely to hit the ground running in the morning with a smile on their face. By considering an adjustable bed purchase and limiting caffeine, one can get enough rest each night and sleep their way to a longer, healthier life
