Snoring Aids Help Treat Sleep Apnea

By: Vikram kuamr Home | Health-and-Fitness

Snoring is thought of as mainly an irritant but did you know it can lead to more serious issues such as sleep apnea? Both of these health issues share a common cause; they result when the lowers jaw becomes relaxed and slides back into the soft tissues in the throat to block the air passages. The main difference between the two conditions is that snoring is the result of a partial blockage and sleep apnea results when the blockage is total and air is unable to reach the lungs. Interestingly, it is snoring aids that are showing potential for controlling and preventing sleep apnea.

Probably since the dawn of time mankind has been searching for a cure for snoring. One loud snorer probably could keep an entire encampment awake. Through the ages there have many attempts at snoring aids but none seemed to completely eliminate snoring. Strips across the nose helped some but did not address the underlying cause of these two conditions, the blocked air passages in the throat.

One creative snorer looked at the problem with logic and surmised that in order to prevent either condition the source of the problem would need to be addressed. He tied a strip of fabric around his lower jaw and tied it atop his head. He enjoyed a wonderful night of sleep and awoke refreshed for the first time in his memory. He took it one step further and began designing snoring aids focusing on the lower jaw. He developed a jaw supporter (aka snoring mask) and now markets it successfully online.

Among intricately designed snoring aids the snoring mask stands out due to its sheer simplicity. Originally designed to prevent snoring, data is now emerging that this aid is benefitting sleep apnea sufferers. This actually makes complete sense and should come as no big shock when you take into account that the mask was created to address the core cause of both conditions; the relaxing and resulting displacement of the lower jaw while sleeping. The inventor of the jaw supporter rationally approached creating the best of all snoring aids. He took into account the source of the problem and created a comfortable, easy to wear solution in the snoring mask.

The snoring mask is essentially a support sleeve that encompasses the head from chin to peak. The lower jaw is cradled by the mask so that it is supported and held in place to prevent airway blockages or constrictions. Technically speaking, the methodology is this: open airways allow for more air to flow to the lungs. If the volume of the airways can be constantly maximized, snoring and sleep apnea would be eradicated. When airways are constricted and air flows through a smaller than normal space, air speed increases. It is this increase in speed that causes the soft tissues to vibrate and we perceive these vibrations as snoring. By keeping the airways open and at maximum volume, air velocity is reduced and vibration does not occur; snoring is prevented. Among snoring aids masks stand out for their ability to help prevent and control sleep apnea which is caused by the same jaw misalignment and airway blockage.
