You've read the advertisements, you've downloaded the brochures, you've related to the success stories and you want the lifestyle. Sounds so wonderful and it can be this way, but only if you approach your venture in the right way and with the right mindset from the outset. As the saying goes "the only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary" Working from home on your online business, making money on whichever venture you choose, can really be rewarding but it must be treated like a business. Massive Action equals massive Results - 80% activity will not yield 80% of the potential - more like 30%. Treat it like a business and it will reward you. Plan to achieve your goals and make sure every goal has a milestone. A good time period is 90 days or 12 week. 12 Weeks allows you to gain momentum and results but its also short enough to prevent you from being anything less than 100% clear. Give your plan to someone who can hold you accountable, someone who will not allow you to make excuses, because you will make them. Starting any business online or offline requires tremendous focus and sacrifice especially from the outset. Thats why a home based franchise carries so much appeal. People are attracted by the systems that it can offer. The franchise model can have a positive impact in that it does provide structure and in some cases discipline. If you are searching for an online business opportunity, there are not too many actual franchises available as yet which can stand up to the test of time. Do plenty of research. Like a property search - Look at 100, offer on 10 and buy 1. Every time. Its not enough to tell yourself that you are working from home. Those that "care" most about you need to be told as well or they will use up your business time in their down time. Coffee mornings are a no go until your business is working without you. Read the blogs of people starting up their own business ventures. So much time is wasted on unnecessary activities. When starting your online business, make sure that you are focussed all the time on sales related activities during the working day. Keep a log of your time in your business each and every day - be honest with it. You will find that the actual time that you spend doing real constructive work on your business will reflect your progress. Copyright (c) 2009 Derek O'Dwyer
