When it comes to health care ethical issues, there are almost as many ethical issues as there are health issues to be treated. There are ethical issues that are clearly defined, such as the requirements for treatment decisions when a patient has a Medical Power of Attorney or a Living Will. Health care providers must make their treatment decisions based on a great many determining factors, perhaps the most constraining of which is the insurance reimbursement regime. If doctors and other health care providers could just treat their patients and have only that to worry about, what a wonderful world it would be. Ethical concerns also come into play with patients whose family constellations are unclear. A patient who has a spouse has a straightforward next of kin when decisions have to be made. One important ethical concern in health care is the need to protect oneself from the very real danger of the transmission of communicable diseases in bodily fluids. Especially in cases where a patients history is not available, health care providers have the right and the responsibility to protect themselves from viruses and bacteria that may be present in the body fluids of patients to which they are exposed taking care of these patients. Similar to other health practices, ethical issues in nursing arises chiefly with the changing environment within the medical profession as well as the technological advancements that come with it. Based on the studies, there are five major issues shared by most clinical practices. The most common involves patient independence and privacy. Such result is quite expected given the fact that the patient's individual rights do intercede with the medical practice. The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act asks the certified nurse assistants to be graduates with an accreditation of 260 hours long course. The Certified Nurse Assistants course does not vary much and lay down the foundation of Nursing Assistant Certification Exam. A certified Nurse Assistant is not a Medical Assistant even though both the jobs are similar there is a vast difference in the two. In many cases the people who want to make nursing a career would chose a Certified Nurse Assistants work than a Medical Assistants. Nursing magazines that serve as the foremost recourse for nursing information, particularly on new research and breakthroughs are those with journal entries or articles. These are perhaps the most widely read magazines in any nursing school including practical nursing schools and online schools of nursing. Nursing has also gone online and entered the magnificent world of blogging. There are now online magazines through blogs that help nurses deal with every nursing aspect including the emotional strain of nursing and care giving, patient and lawsuit issues, as well as how to deal with professional nursing ethics and hospital administrators. Concerns regarding autonomy and respect for persons represent appropriate criteria for an ethics consult. When a competent elderly person refuses artificial nutrition, in opposition to physicians' orders, questions of autonomy are raised. A parent requesting removal of life support from a nonresponsive child - after a brief period of therapy - likewise raises questions of autonomy, as well as other ethical issues.
