Some Web Marketing Facets

By: Sparh MIC Home | Internet-and-Business | Traffic-Building

It is usually seen that most of the efficient web designers are not adept with the contingencies of web marketing. This creates a lot of chaos for the marketers. Web marketing through the search engines necessitates the use of search engine optimization fundamentals while designing the website for making it compatible for the search engines. It has been seen that most of the beautifully designed websites fare very badly on the grounds of the search engines. Hence we will see some of the things that have to be remembered while designing websites that compliment web marketing.

Loading of times

Designer sites having a lot of graphic effects look awesome, but they are often very slow in the downloading process for the visitors, especially on the front of dial-up-connections. These connections go somewhere else even before the downloading of the site is completed. This results in the penalization of these websites by the search engines.

Names of the files

The file names present in the website have to exactly represent the contents of the page. The file name such as page_1.html is not helpful for conveying the content of the page. Search engines favor sites which are pertinent and clear in regards to the provided information. Short and descriptive names tell the spiders of the search engines as well as the visitors about the exact contents of the page.

The URL’s

As is the case with the file names, the URL’s have to be done in formats which are significant to the visitors as well as the search engines. Most of the times, it has been noticed that the URL’s are accumulations of the domain names, file names and directory names respectively.

Alt Tags

The Alt Tags are exhibited when the graphics are turned off. A visitor may put off the graphics for getting a better speed of the net or may depend on the Alt Tags due to physical handicap. This is the reason why the search engines seem to consider alt tags in the ranking algorithms of the search engines. Most of the designers leave the alt tags in the blank condition. In fact they have to be populated with precise descriptions of images and keywords.

Utility

There are some elements which the users of the internet expect from the sites that they use. Some of the important elements are the contact and home buttons. But some of the designers feel to go away from the normal routine and thus eventually create problems for the users. This drives away the users from the sites resulting in bad marketing.

The Meta Tags

Usually the designers put similar Meta Tags for every page of the website. In fact the search engines favor page specific tags which make the finding of the page easier.

Another important aspect is the determination of the keywords before initiating the designing. Once this factor is addressed, the site design can be planned in a way that is in synch with the keywords and all the other aspects that have been mentioned above. Doing this will give the website the required advantage over the competitors regarding the search engine presence.
