Soy Food And Its Health Benefits

By: altruist Home | Health-and-Fitness | Alternative-Medicine

We all know how important protein is to any diet, whether you are trying to achieve a healthy weight loss or not. Certain fad diets tell people its OK to go out and eat as much greasy bacon as you want, as long as you stay away from those killer carbohydrates. As you probably have already figured out, this type of diet does not work. The main reason is that the source of protein comes from animal fats, and eating too much of it will take a toll on your health.

Lean protein includes foods like turkey, chicken, eggs (in moderation), egg whites, and fish. How much animal meat and fish can a person consume before it gets old? People who are trying to lose weight and gain overall wellness need another source of protein to help them achieve their weight loss and wellness goals. A possible answer? Soy. The benefits of soy protein are large in number. Soy is beginning to be one of the leading nutritional and weight loss foods on the market today.

Soy Cheese is made from soy milk and is cholesterol and lactose free. A small amount of calcium caseinate (a milk product) is added to allow soy cheese to melt. A selection of cheddar, cream cheese types, jack, mozzarella, are readily available. When replacing low fat cheese with soy cheese, use it cup for cup.

The omega- 3 fatty acids in soy products reduce the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.
Aside from lowering the chances of heart disease, promoting healthier bones, and lowering the chances of developing breast and other cancers, soy is also beneficial to those who suffer from diabetes. Soy is known to slow down the digestion process and the rates of absorption. This can aid in the regulation of blood sugars.

Soy protein and soy milk have also been found to reduce the symptoms associated with menopause, such as night sweats and hot flashes. Through their estrogen activity, isoflavones are potent enough to inhibit the menopausal symptoms. Since they also help to prevent osteoporosis and heart disease menopausal women would be wise to include soy protein in their diet, since they are at an increased risk for both of these conditions.

One of the results was that the people who consumed higher amounts of soy foods had a greater lung function and the risk of respiratory problems was less. There was a significant reduction of 1% in the risk of breathlessness with each additional gram in daily intake. Even when taking into account of smoking, body mass index, alcohol consumption, these results were consistent.

Therefore, soy has numerous benefits and should be considered as a replacement for certain animal foods in your diet. It provides our bodies with several essential nutrients and is helpful in the prevention and treatment of many diseases. If you are tackling health issues or just want to improve your overall health, start enjoying the numerous benefits of soy by adding it to your diet.
