Spend A Day With Friends Enjoying Senior Golf

By: Dan Beebe Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Golf

After a person retires it's very easy to get the feeling of what's next. There are many activities that some try only to find out they come up short on entertainment or exercise value. This isn't the case when exploring senior golf.

Where To Play

If a person has never played golf before a great place to start is by doing a little searching on the net to see what's available in the area. Perhaps it's important to the individual that they get some lessons, or that there are senior golf friendly activities or groups. Spending a little time looking into options can save time running the roads and burning up fuel. Decide what is best to be had from the course that will be played on and this will help narrow down the options. Find out which courses are busiest on what days and this will help with scheduling a day around getting good play time in. Most courses offer discounts for seniors but it may be wise to check into this if it's something that's desired. Remember to do a little searching into what may be the best options, but above all don't spend all the time trying to come to a decision, this is valuable time that could be spent out on the course.

Senior Golf Is Healthy

There are some sports that are simply going to be too vigorous and straining to enter into late in adulthood. When it comes to getting on a course and getting some strokes in, nothing can be better than going on a golf outing. This will allow a person a day of relaxation, socialization and exhilaration. Don't forget to bring along a little competitive spirit. Getting out on the course in the sun offers a healthy alternative to sitting around learning new arts and crafts. It's important in the later stages of life to get out there and get active, but do it at a relaxed pace. Late in life we're often told to get more exercise in. Doctors order us to go for more and longer walks, they ask us what we've been doing as far as exercise. When active with senior golf these become questions that are easy to answer.

A Family Outing Can Be Great

Getting Mom or Dad, Gamma and Grandpa out on the golf course for a shorter nine holes can be a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It has all the makings for a great outing. Senior golf is a sport that offers health benefits along with the feeling of an afternoon of socialization. Planning the day around how to get everyone out there to enjoy the best weather can be fun and entertaining, not to mention good for the circulation. Don't hesitate to invite a few relatives and enjoy the competition. Bring the kids along and see who does best, especially if everyone is a green horn. If there's a resident expert or two, enjoy watching them teach the younger ones, or the less experienced about what they've learned.
