Spider veins are small veins in the skin, which become dilated. Most times, there is a "feeder" vein, which may result in the dilation of skin venules. When compared to varicose veins, which are larger, swollen blood vessels with a tendency to twist and turn, spider veins are smaller. They are red, purple and blue vessels with a tendency to twist and turn along the surface of the skin. What Causes Spider and Varicose Veins?
