Spinal Injury Treatments

By: Dr. Leavitt Home | Health-and-Fitness | Alternative-Medicine

The number one spinal injury cause is motor vehicle accidents. There are more than 145,000 people a year that are involved in motor vehicle accidents that report spinal injury afterwards. Of these, there is only about 45% that will seek out a chiropractor in order to have their spinal injury treated. Many simply deal with the pain until it goes away on its own, or they end up in an emergency room due to the pain.

We offer many services for spinal injury pain or injuries of all types to the spine and spinal cord. A spinal adjustment is the most common service we provide as chiropractors. A spinal adjustment involves using a certain amount of force in a controlled way and manner that is placed onto a joint that is not properly moving as it should. This makes the joint move and helps the bones to go back to a normal position. The one purpose of spinal adjustments is to help your spine function properly and to help your nervous system to work correctly. These manipulations are useful for treatment or relief from neck or back pain, stiff joints or necks and other minor pains or aches. This treatment is given only where and when it is needed and if it is requested as a treatment.

Massage therapy is the application of a specific amount of pressure to the soft tissues of your body. This can help heal by creating a higher blood flow, and causing the muscles to become looser and creates more elasticity in the muscles and fascia. Deep tissue works, mobilization of soft tissues, and cross functioning massage are all options with massage therapy for your pain. These are all useful for back or neck pain, generalized pain and stiff neck.

Modalities are other types of mechanisms that help in your care for recovery. These include such options as ultrasounds, taping, traction, ice and heat, electric stimulations, h-wave, flexion distraction and micro current. Clinical nutrition is also offered as a part of recovery. It is not required that you take this service, but it is recommended any time you are recovering from an injury. Nutrition will often help with your speed of recovery. Such treatments as weight loss, post operative and pre-operative nutrition as well as dietary supplements and cholesterol or arthritis all use clinical nutrition.

We offer such services as acute, chronic and maintenance care; core stabilization, spinal injury, rehab, strengthening, motor vehicle accident follow ups, spinal decompression and workman’s compensation cases. Each case is different, as each spine is different. We treat you as a family member and not just another case. We find that if you are more comfortable with us and your procedures, the healing process can take place faster and with better results. It is best to understand every procedure you will undergo as well as the side effects or risks associated with each one in congruence with your condition. We will consult with you for as long as you require and never tire of helping you out of your painful condition.
