Spot Welding Tips

By: Alex John Home | Business | Small-Business

Even more with easier words it could be as one of the group resistance welding process that is involved in connecting two surface metal parts by applying heat and pressure on it in a localized area. welding hear is done by holding two work piece together and pressure exerted on them by the electrodes .a typical spot elder uses two copper alloy electrodes to concentrate the welding current into small spots and while with that clamping of sheets together is also done simultaneously.

The amount of energy is chosen to link the standards of sheets material property, thickness and the type of electrode is also taken care. Applying a very less quality of energy will not help the metal to melt or it would also mean a poor welding .applying excess energy is also a no good it will over melt the metal and create holes in them rather than being welded. Electrodes vary in spot welding and it with different applications it has lots of other properties.

The various applications are, for a high heat application, radius style electrode is used. Electrode with a truncated tip are also used for high pressure. For corner welding, eccentric electrodes are used. For reaching out for corners and small spaces offset eccentric is used and to reach directly into corner and small place offset truncated is taken in use.

When spot welding is modified it creates projection welding, and often this welding is used in joining crossed wire and bars. Spot welding is one of the oldest welding processes said by experts. Spot welding is used on thin material like foil but on 6 mm thickness metal it is very rarely used. For aerospace application, high quality weld is also be maid in stainless steel, aluminum alloys, nickel alloys and titanium too .Compared to other welding techniques spot welding have large amount of advantages such as ease of automation, high speed, and energy efficiency.

Spot welding can extremely be a perilous type of welding as a large amount of heat and current is involved this fact should be bared in the welders mind. The welder should be sharp enough to take all safety steps while welding. Such as the electrode should be tightly clamped, protecting eyes from intense lights that emits and also protect there hands while welding as the work piece can get hotter there are other work hazards where being safe is very important there are risk of crushing fingers and hands, the likely burns.

Automatic spot welding own demands on resistance welding equipments. Robot welding can also be created by equipment design especially only for spot welding and with the right appropriate welding procedures Robert welding are easily available in all various sizes and it is rated by pay load capacity and reach. A spot welding has a gum; the gum needs to be applied with specific current and pressure on the welding sheet. There so many different types of welding guns available for various other application.
