The time has come-we are in a countdown until Christmas! Many like me love this time of year with all the hustle bustle and fun traditions. Shopping can be crazy but fun, and there are sure to be holiday parties just about every weekend. It seems that it's a time of year that everybody can embrace because there's so much joy in it. This is particularly true when there are kids around because they bring such a unique innocence that adds to the enjoyment this season brings. Whatever your plans are for the holidays, there are always new traditions that can be added so that there is even more family fun time. Perhaps your family plays games, watches movies, or just sits around the fire at this most joyous time of year. Why not add a new tradition to the season? When the family is all together and gathered around the fireplace, start the new tradition of building a model boat together. Model boat building may seem a bit nontraditional at first thought. Is this really something that the whole family can involved with? In a word, absolutely! This will obviously require some adult supervision and guidance, but kids can get really excited about building something. This can be something fun that starts a new collection for the family. If you have a successful build one year and create something amazing to put on the shelf, then it will surely be something that the family will want to do year after year. Everyone in the family can have a part and if there are little kids involved, you can give them easier jobs like reading the instructions out loud with an adult's help. Making everyone feel involved adds to the family togetherness. It's important to start with a simple kit. Be sure to select something at a level one so that the difficulty doesn't detract from the hobby. It's not to say that everybody will embrace this hobby as their own, but it can surely be a fun tradition that the whole family looks forward to each holiday season. So this year as you are gathering around the fire drinking eggnog, create the new tradition of building a model boat together. Having a picture or example of what the finished product will look like can keep everybody interested and involved. You'll be amazed at the feelings of excitement and accomplishment that everyone will feel when they are a part of the build.
