Starving Is Not Dieting And Is Unhealthy Too

By: Peter11 Home | Health-and-Fitness

Starving yourself for getting thin is a very bad idea. It puts your body in a potentially very risky position in terms of physiological as well as psychological health. Dieting should be done to maintain a healthy weight, which means that you should neither be over weight nor under weight. Meaning of healthy weight is different for different persons, usually it depends upon the height, age and gender of a person. This means that an over weight person should do dieting in order to reduce weight, on the other hand an under weight person should do dieting to gain some weight. Dieting also depends on health of a person. For example a person suffering from ulcer should not drink alcohol.

Excess dieting is more of a psychological problem than a physical problem. Desire to get a perfect figure is a prominent factor that forces most people in this kind of extreme behavior. People simply ignore the fact that they are harming themselves rather than helping, by putting their body and mind under unnecessary stress. In the long term, this can result in serious mental health problems like depression and hyper tension.

The best way to lose excess weight is to practice both dieting and physical exercise. Physical exercise not only reduces weight but also increases production of important chemicals within the body. These chemicals further improve the functioning of the body. If any one can do this for a long period of time, he or she can stay fit forever.

If you want to do proper dieting in a scientific manner, first thing that you have to do is to find out the kind of diet that your body requires. Don’t try to be on a perfect diet on day one because for most people this is nearly impossible. Start slowly and then gain momentum. Follow similar approach on exercise also because sudden increase in physical activity will burn out all your energy and it may result in excess eating. It may also cause damage to muscles and soft tissues of your body. Take this very seriously as any serious damage in muscles or tissues can be very painful.

Now you know that for losing weight planned approach is very necessary, without planned approach you can get into trouble rather than improving your health and fitness. If you can’t do it alone then consult a doctor or a weight loss expert. These people are professionals and can help you in shedding extra weight in a very short time span.
